A good friend is at a conference in Valencia right now and for the next few days, and having a hard time finding good wine on the ground to buy and take back to the hotel (both to drink there and to bring back home to Tokyo). I steered him towards some general knowledge about rioja, ribera del duero, priorat and sherry, but that's not helping him enough at local markets.

Would any of you be kind enough to offer up a list of specific bottles from each area that he might be able to find? He's more a gourmand than a gourmet, likes whites well enough but reds better, prefers cheaper to more expensive, and I suppose more options are better than fewer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. While we're at it I'm sure any recommendations of reasonably-priced places to eat in Valencia would be welcome, too.
