There's "Rich Prosecco" - http://www.snooth.com/talk/topic/well-if-paris-hilton-likes-it/ - which was marketed by Paris Hilton (like...OMG!)

And then there's Francis Ford Coppola's daughter's Sophia:

But - ive never seen either of these in a store or club

Really, Philip, you've yet to see these in a store? I've seen the Sofia and a few other ones. I can't say it's catching on, but they do have a tiny bit of (novelty?) shelf space in some of the larger stores.

The amount of wine produced globally is to big for exclusivity. If there are "conservative wines", it's just a matter of question how soon there shall be "pop wines".

our store usually has Sofia in stock, not a lot, just enough for those summer girls who come through for something cute to drink...(at least that's what i feel) lol

I used to move a fair amount of the Sofia minis here in NYC. They have a weird appeal to certain groups. Maybe since they are easily concealed?
I wouldn't mind seeing a few added selections of summer whites in cans. Saves space in the fridge and shipping costs. Bring on my pop top!

I see the mini screw top champagne bottles more than I see Sofia, but I think this may be a passing trend.

I came across wine in those boxes (like you can get milk and juice in) Moscow, Russia. Bought a 750 for my friend a true wine afficionado as a joke. I'm not sure that he 1) appreciated the joke, or B) ever opened the box. I can't tell you what appelation or varietal it was, I don't read Russian.

if it tastes the same as 'normal wine' I have no problem... just do not make me drink straight from the can! Yuk!

I´ll tell you something. Cheap wine, simple wine can and should be canned, packed, or anything. It is a great way of making wine more and more popular day by day. Once one learns a little bit more - and for this there must interest that only comes from drinking it - one will look for better wines, more expensive and classic wines, these of course, should always come in a beautiful bottle, but until then, let it be! It is positive for wine, Italy itself is suffering deeply from over producing wine and mostly cheap wines are taking producers to bankruptcy because in europe the market seems to be shrinking! So, can it, send it overseas! At purple pages, http://www.jancisrobinson.com there is an entire interview with Angelo Gaja talking exactly about what Italy is going through.
Seeya and let me hear from you.
