I love wine festivals. Being able to spend a weekend in another place enjoying excellent and sometimes not so excellent food and wine from across the state or from across the world. I know there are loads of different festivals out there, from all inclusive wine festivals to ones focusing on a specific theme or region (Hospice du Rhone and The International Pinot Noir Celebration). I just returned from the Newport Food and Wine Festival in Rhode Island and got to thinking...What other festivals are out there? When can we go and what can we see? Fall is the perfect time of the year to hit the road and explore, especially as wine country begins to prepare for harvest. So let's hear your favorites, and be sure to let us know dates and locations if you can!
Wine Festivals Across the US

I lived in Charleston, South Carolina for 15 years and I helped to get their food and wine festival off the ground almost nine years ago. It has grown into a fabulous event, probably owing much to the fact that Charleston consistently wins high marks for its dining, drinking, shopping and friendly hospitality...

This is an interesting topic. I have not attended many food/wine festivals over the years (in fact, only one comes to mind), but this may inspire me. The one that may capture my attention (mostly, because it is reasonably convenient for me) is the Central Coast Wine Classic that is, usually, in July. They seem to have several interesting events over a few days spread around the various wine-producing areas of the California Central Coast.

I would love to visit South Carolina. Does the festival mostly focus on local wines from around the South or mid-atlantic states or does it have wines from all over the world? Is the festival mostly consumers or is there a trade portion as well?
I have heard of the Central Coast Wine Classic, but also never been. I know California has many wine festivals and related activities.
I think this is an interesting topic as well. It feels as if there are so many small, under rated and often looked over wine events in the US.
Thanks for posting so far and keep the festivals coming!
