Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Wines of 2008

Being a student I can't wait until 12/16 when they release the top 100 under $15. Has anyone had any of the wines on the list? Thoughts?

I bought a case of the # 15 wine Astrales, 2005, based upon my love of the 2004 vintage. The 2005 was just as good if not better. I also had the Seta #46, from Signorello, great blend of Semillon and Sav Blanc. Finally the #95 wine the Cos I have a case that I bought on futures. We gives it a 97, RP 96-100 and WS was around 97 as well. However I have no intention of opening one for another 8 years or so.

I've had a few of them:

#22 - Iron Horse Blanc de Blanc -
#32 - Arrowood 2005 Réserve Spéciale Chardonnay
#42 - J Vineyards & Winery 2000 Vintage
#55 - Gloria Ferrer 2001 Royal Cuvée

As you can see I got to taste a bunch of sparkling wines. All very good and reasonably priced.

For comparison here are a couple other Top 100 lists:

The only two that jumped out that I know ive had were:

#67 JJ Prum 2006 Riesling Spatlese
#90 Cos d'Estournel 2005

Hmm, maybe we need the Snooth top 100 wine list! Mark???

There you go stealing my ideas again ... well, kinda. In this thread:

I suggested the idea of the Snoothy's but we can call it the Snooth 100. :-)

Congrats to Ehren Jordan and the Failla team on the #1 spot. I haven't had a chance to try this vintage, but previous vintages have been quite tasty.

The Snooth 100 may have to wait awhile but we will beat the big boys to the punch in 2009!

#6 Poet's Leap Reisling: Very good and not too sweet;-)
#43: Bella "lily Hill" Zin: Always a top ten zin year in and out!
#73: Chaleur Estate Blanc (DeLille): Would have been my numero uno.
#95: Breggo Anderson Valley Pinot Noir: OVER RATED....
Left out: Heimoff likes to review and write a ton about Navarro, yet they never make the top 100???

Top 100 under $15 is available... any suggestions from you guys? Of course I have to use a filter (availability in Poland), but I've tasted some of wines mentioned, so they're generally to be found here...

I just picked up number 4: Oak Grove 2007 Reserve Viognier. I was having trouble finding any other ones off the list but am still looking for some. It was right at about $8 like the list said. I will let you know what I think when I get around to trying it.

Navarro rocks!

I'm not surprised they don't make the top 100. They just make good, clean, balanced food friendly wine. They would need to PUMP it up to break the top 300, much less the top 100!

Unfortunately, no Oak Grove products available in Poland :/ Here's what I will get soon from the Top 100 below $15:

#1 - Bodegas Luzón 2007 Luzón (Jumilla)... the price is so-so here, but if they don't raise it within a week or two, I'm going to try this one.

#23 - Volteo 2006 Tempranillo-Shiraz - found it on promotion & already ordered a couple bottles. Less than 10$ here, that's very good.

#44 - Viu Manent 2007 Reserva Chardonnay

#57 - Spier 2005 Pinotage - we were never convinced to try this one, but now we might... I'm not sure if I'll be able to get 2005 here, though. I think they sell 2006 already. But the price is nice.

Unfortunately some wines are ridiculously overpriced here. Example: Redwood Creek 2006 Sauvignon Blanc would be a good choice, but not at a price of 17-18$ (instead of 9$ mentioned in the list...).
