Why do I not see Montepulciano d'Abruzzo on local wine list?

Posted by DonBollinger, Mar 19, 2010.

I've notice that my personal favorite Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is never on a wine list when dining out. I find the wine is excellent with spicy foods or simply by itself, just a curious observation.

Also, I've set out 10 Cabernet grape vines recently. I want to grow the Montepulciano but can't locate anyone that sells this vine. Does anyone know where I might find this?

It's a shame.

Montepulciano is one of my favourites as well.

My award winning restaurant in Richmond, B.C. ( just 20 mins. south from Vancouver) carries it, not only by the bottle, but I incorporate on my tasting menu;'s. I's pure awesome, and my restaurant is authentic chinese to boot... ( rated "the greatest restaurant i n the world-outside of hong Kong-Asia) as per Jennifer 8 Lee, an award winning best selling author & New York times food & wine critic, as well as a guest judge on Iron Chef America. I have attended the previous Italian wine fair, and I plan to have them at Zen, for a fabulous wine dinner.

I wonder if that is because it does not stay in the bottle long enough for a buyer to keep it? And keep making a profit on it, that is.
