Why did somebody change my profile? And Happy New Year.

Posted by gregt, Dec 31, 2012.

Now I'm an anonymous number and not a name. I think I changed it back but who knows if the changes stuck.

They don't seem to have taken effect yet. Maybe because I can't complete the form? If I try to change my profile, I'm asked how many and which newsletters I want, which recommendations I want, etc.

I've been on this site for a couple years at least and suddenly I'm asked for all my info again?

And then the screen freezes.

I'm using Windows 7 and the most recent version of Firefox if that means anything.

But for the record - I don't want any newsletters automatically sent to me.  Ever.

And Happy New Year.

I don't want wine recommendations automatically sent to to me. Ever.

I don't want any more automatic email every day.  Or automatic texts.

Apparently I'm in some Snooth groups and I have some trophies. How 'bout that. Who knew?  As long as they don't cost me anything, that's OK.

And then there are some followers. That's interesting too - hi people! I wonder where we'll go. I'm not spending any money on you though!

Can somebody change my name back? Otherwise I guess I'm simply going to be an anonymous number.

At least they didn't change your little picture.

But it is strange.

I wondered about the change. And the number isn't even interesting from a numbers perspective; you should demand, at the very least, a perfect number or an obscure prime.

But as long as you keep up the interesting banter, neither the disappearance of the lemur nor the snuffing out of the GregT appellation will deter me from taking a quick read of your postings...

Happy New Year and enjoy the Spanish winter.

"And the number isn't even interesting from a numbers perspective"

Zuf - we can always count on you for the orthogonal viewpoint!

But you're entirely right - it isn't an interesting number at all. It just happened one day a few weeks ago - I became Snoother 89564.  And as of yet, I still can't change back!

Anyhow, Happy New Year to all you guys. And gals!

Here's hoping you're drinking something good, both for the first night of 2013 and then all the way thru!

Since I'm alone, my plan was to have lobster ravioli with a rosado cava. That would have been the first time I ever opened a bottle of sparkling wine for myself. But now  I think I'm having a Cayuse Syrah instead.

I don't know, I'll bet that certain residents of Washoe County, NV find that 89564 is of some, if not importance, at least usefulness.

Maybe even those in Nattheim, Germany.

Can't go wrong with Syrah.

At least they could have made you Snoother 8675309 or some other cool number.  Sorry for your troubles Greg!

Hmmm... thought you did it... thought you wanted highest anonymity possible.  Also glad you didn't lose the cute pix I found for you :-)  Happy New Year!

Well m'dear the pic may in fact be at risk! If they can change my name, they can change anything!

My entire identity as a marsupial or whatever the hell that thing is may be lost.  And if they can do it to me, they can do it to anyone!

We're all in danger!

Hey Greg - I put in a stopgap measure - looks like we didn't lose your handle, but it's displaying incorrectly.   Will fix ASAP.   Sorry!

Solved.  It turns out that because you're designated as an "Author" on Snooth (a very special distinction) - the site assumes you have your full name, and tries to use that instead of your handle "gregt".  I fixed it so it won't do that anymore.  You're one in a million gregt!

Thanks Chris!

I'm an author?  Really?

Cool.

I should write something when I have more time.

I was actually starting to like the numerical designation - seemed all futuristic and everything where people are only numbers and our real identities have been lost . . .

Oh well. Back to normal.

Awww.. so glad you are back to GregT.  I was about ready to post a picture of a barcode on a forehead for your new avatar.  But I would miss my little tarsier!
