What The Bordeaux Heck?

I found this story pretty funny/interesting/sad. I think it's better when told from the POV of the guy who spent all his time/money on his wine and not in court!

Here here Those that went to court were to petty to do what their neighbor did work at it and live it to make a better wine.

ugh! what a mess - its a good article and being written around the point of view of the one chateau owner really makes it hit home how devastating being downgraded must be

Awful - does he have to wait until 2016 to be reclassified... or are they working on a reclassification now?

This is why the Medoc has never even thought about reclassifying itself.

To me it looks like they'll just continue to flip flop for the next 10 years. Once you start to budge on your rules you appear vulnerable to that and will constantly have someone yapping at you to move in their favor. It's stupid and wasteful and clearly shows that it isn't as much about making a good wine as it should be.

Of course, without the ratings/sales it's harder to continue to make a good wine.

But this classification was done in the 1950s with the goal of periodic revisions. The 1969, 1986 and 1996 revisions occurred with only minor hitches. They need to release a reclassification with an impartial panel or else risk the whole thing becoming a joke. For now, the 1996 classification stands for 2006 - 2009 vintage wine, which means that they probably hope to have this resolved by the end of next year.

The wine doctor has a good article with a lot of extra information.
