Recently, with minimal fanfare and explanation, WinePress was launched as another channel by Snooth. I never saw a full/clear explanation from anyone, whether GregDP, Mark, Chris or the current CEO about what it's aimed at, and how it interlaces with the earlier channels of the Forum and the Articles.
I've felt that recently Forum trafffic, both absolute, and that of interesting content, has been off compared to a half year, and particularly a year or more in the past. The absolute volume of articles has increased over the same interval, but has traffic as judged by comments in the threads underneath? Now I see when I look at the items in my WinePress feed (seems like a conglomeration of articles, forum posts and other bloggish dohickeys) that very few of them have any comments underneath. And when I went to publish this post in the Forum, I can't do that directly, but it goes through the WinePress function/channel/thingy.
More cannibalization and content diffusion, or...? Any thoughts from my co-users, or fuller explanations from the info architects at Snooth, or....?
Oh yeah, and when I tried to save this a few moments ago, I couldn't save, and thus preview or publish--had to reboot. Plus when I try to preview now, there's no scroll bar so I can't read down to the end of the preview. I'm on Mac 10.6.8, and Firefox 4.0.1. Count this as a bug report, too....
What is this WinePress channel, and how does it relate to the Articles and the Forum?

Yeah, I think clipping more of the text on Wine Press topics, "more after the jump" kind of a thing would be very beneficial. Just as it is now, people usually decide whether they're interested in a topic by the title.

Great feedback, Jon - thanks. This is exactly what we're hoping to tweak. Hopefully we can all work together to make Wine Press better. We're also going to add a sidebar module (today, I hope - we're nearly done) that will expose just the titles of the recent topics, for quick scanning. That should help more.
NapaGirl - I'm so sorry about your problems getting the publisher to work. If it's any consolation, your detailed report helped me to track down a bug which I've just fixed. You just saved many other people from similar frustrations. Let me know if you have any more problems with the publisher.

Mark, thanks for the fix. It worked, and I was able to post a new topic.
The only thing that didn't work for me was the preview button. I could only go into EDIT or PUBLISH. Preview didn't work from the original page I was typing content into, nor when I clicked on the saved draft and had a preview button as well. But I still could edit or publish... FWIW
