What can Snooth do for you?
Posted by mark, Jul 31.

We keep pretty busy here at Snooth building the site and making it better. A great part of that is listening to what you, the community, wants to see on the site.

Let's have a little fun talking Snooth ideas this weekend. No promises that we'll get to all of your suggestions, but no suggestion is too wild (or mild!) to post here.

Looking forward to hearing what you have to say!

Mark,
Keep up the good work.

Here are just a few that come to mind.
1) Travel recommendations
2) Calendar of events for major cities
3) Organized tours / trips with discounted rates?
4) Notification of new release of a wine you have scored well in the past.

That’s all I have right now. I may be back w/ more later.

A few off the top of my head:
--Aggregated vintage notes and tables for all major winegrowing regions across the globe.
--'Wine Wiki' and other ways to provide easier access to the database of info that's growing in the forum banks. Many forum threads end up being subset rehashes of earlier threads on the same subject matter. How can new readers better access previously posted knowledge?
--Better functionality for the 'mailer' for personal messages between Snooth members. The current text window is absurdly small, and that, combined with its overall heaviness, makes it difficult to compose and, particularly, edit messages.

There are others, but overall Snooth is doing a great job. I find it more intelligent and easier to use that any other wine site I've encountered. Keep the momentum going!

Well, I know whats on the development calendar, but ignoring that, I'd like to see:

- ability for users to comment on each others reviews. At the moment, if someone leaves a fascinating, or hilarious, review, i have no way of telling them other than messaging them, or voting on it. I may have a question, and the commenting system would help me get the question there.

- voting on the food and wine pairings section, so users can tell us which recipes they like the most

- 3D google earth mashup where i can fly around the globe like a falcon, seeing soil types, vineyards and winery buildings, all perfectly rendered. Ideally it would be in real time, so i can stop and wave to the winemaker as he walks the rows in the morning. Or is that already on the list?

Have a good weekend all!

Like all of yours, Philip, especially the last. Could have fun trying to catch waves of veraison around the world! ;-)

All Philip's suggestions sound pretty good. The Google Earth one could be quite fun.

It'd be nice if more wine shops could put their inventories up on snooth. Maybe snooth could implement some sort of auto-deployed thumbscrews? Wait, that'd stop them typing which would be counterproductive. ;-)

More seriously, it'd be nice if you could set the twitter integration so that it only tweeted a review if you explicitly tell it to rather than an all or nothing approach.

I'd love to see something akin to a calendar feature for tracking events. I'd also like the ability to track discussions threads within groups - or better organize the group postings.

Any plans to have a Blackberry version of Snooth?

Jdomonic - try m.snooth.com, its a mobile optimized site, works ok on blackberry, although its not a dedicated app.

MTB - can you expand on what you mean by "ability to track discussions threads within groups - or better organize the group postings" - sounds interesting, thank you!

I'd like a better way to separate the 'Your Wines' section. Right now the 'Wishlist' items are all in with the 'Cellar' items, which doesn't feel like an accurate setup.
