What can Snooth do for wine bloggers?

Posted by Philip James, Sep 13, 2007.

I had a long conversation with Ryan Opaz of Catavino yesterday and we came up with some ideas as to how Snooth could better serve you, the industry's bloggers. The question is, would you use these things? Can we do better?

Here's the list:

- Badges: "Check out my reviews on Snooth" style icons you could display

- Guessable URLs: Want to show your users the best in-stock california cabs that pair with beef and cost less than $20? Use the URL: [Please see below for an explanation of this].

- Regional experts: How do we persuade people (ie. you) to become a 'regional expert' on Snooth. This would give you the power to edit and fix incorrect wines. We're a startup so don't think of money here, but we could do something like Amazon's "Real Name" or "Top 100 Reviewer" to lend credibility to your profile on our site.

- Push tasting notes to blogs: Fairly obvious as to why you might want this. Clearly anything we can do to make the process of copying/importing/exporting ratings the better.

Anything else? Would love to hear from you.

As for the Guessable URL's. Here's how it works:

The 2 refers to the page of results you want to display. The range is 1-5
The 1 refers to wines in stock and actually available for sale through Snooth. Use 0 for all wines
The 5/10 is the dollar range. Each increment is $2, so 5/10 refers to wines costing $10-$20.

If you want to sort by price, you can replace the /sr on the end of the URL with /price+asc or /price+desc.

The /sr for sorting by SnoothRank. I hope the URL structure proves useful!
