- Weird Wine Names
In my travels I've come across some wild wine names. I'm glad to be in an industry with a good sense of humor. Some of the ones I'm remembering at the moment:
Vinum Cellars CNW (The Chard-No-Way is a Chenin Blanc.)
Cooper's Creek Cat's Pee on a Gooseberry Bush (A play on the classic flavors)
Fairview Goats do Roam (A play on Côtes du Rhône -- I see this one in stores a lot)
Anyone else have any they'd like to share?

Clos di pise = field of 'no translation needed for that word"
Fat Bastard, Franks Big Red One and Bitch for swear words
Twisted Oak Winery *%#&@! White Blend

The attack of symbols is pretty funny and plays havoc with search engines
Goats do Roam is probably my favorite - made with Rhone varietals, but from California, i always thought that was pretty funny.

Hmmm ... well there are some _interesting_ ones from Boony Doon. One that doesn't seem to be made any more was "Cardinal Zin". It had a rather devilish looking label and the also had a NV port called 'Boutielle Call' (or booty call) of course, 7 Deadly Zins by a producer in Dry Creek, Sonoma:

Then there is a small producer in Sonoma Valley called Kaz that labels everything kinda strange:
Kazza Roja - NV Red House Wine
Kazarouge- NV Red Table Wine
Plunge - 2005 Sangiovese
Hooligans - 2005 Grenache
Sangiofranc - 2004 Sangiovese & Cab Franc
Spar - 2004 Zinfandel
Sarah Nader - 2004 Zinfandel
Fly Guys - 2005 Barbera & Tannat
Say "Rah" - 2005 Syrah
Dudes - 2005 Petit Sirah
Champs - 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
Outbound - 2004 Cabernet Franc
Red Said Fred - 2005 Cab, Zin, Merlot & Petite Sirah
Mary Tauge - 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot

Well, if we're including grape varieties, how about "Scuppernong"?

This one's a play on Liebfraumilch, an off-dry wine from Germany. Ha.

Cats Pee on a Gooseberry bush - in an attempt to define the quintessential sauvignon blanc aroma. Mmmm, yummy
