Wedding Gift?
Posted by wyomingWino, Jan 26.

I want to get my good friends a nice bottle of wine for their wedding that will be at it's prime 10 years from now so they can drink it on their 10 year anniversary. Does anyone have a recommendation? I was thinking a red, something like a pinot noir or a cabernet. Thanks!

Hey Wyoming,
Welcome to Snooth!

So the big question is....what's the budget. And then what style of wine do your friends enjoy? I'd be happy to make some recommendations but you might want to also include champagne in your list. The best certainly age for 10 years no problem, assuming good storage, and are always festive.

I think they would enjoy something bold or complex. as far as the budget....i was thinking somewhere under or around 50 dollars...

also, do you know of any wines that fit this description that are from the UK? That is where they fell in love and that is where they are going on their honeymoon so it might make it extra special. if not, wine from anywhere would work fine. champagne is also a great idea! thanks!

Wine from the UK!?!?!

Well, actually since Global Warming is having a big impact on Europe, vines are thriving in the UK for the first time since the middle ages. The best products, so far, are sparkling wines. Of course, they are not easy to find in the US market, since there are so many other great sparkling wines and champagnes to compete with.

The best known name is Nyetimber

thank you! if the description says 'Drink Now' does that mean it will be past its prime 10 years from now?

also, what about red wines that can be found in the US?

Buy a good wine in a Magnum (1,5 Lts), it will last easily for 10 years...

Wines from the UK! How can i have missed this thread for so long...

Being British, I went and tried some british sparklers recently. I remember seeing some for around 30 pounds, which is about $50 US.

I had a rose sparkling wine, which was pretty tasty - let me go link it for you.
