I'm heading to France for some bike racing and wine in July!
I will be spending three days in the Rhone Valley, one day in Aix-en-Provence, on to the French Alps for two days and then wrap it all up with two days in Lyon.
What recommendations do you all have for AOCs, vineyards, wineries and restaurants etc to visit?
I'm celebrating Bastille Day on Mt. Ventoux and then will be partying on Alpe d'Huez with thousdand of other crazy cycling fans July 18 when the race goes up Alpe d'Huez twice. Yes, TWICE!
Vive le Tour!

I'm jealous. GdP, are you out there? This is a great coverage opportunity. He's going on his own dollar, and he's hitting some vineyards.
One idea is to go to the winery of the winemaker who was on here last year who makes CdP, etc. Get a second opinion of his wines.

If I were in that part of the world I would not mind visiting Domaine Tenon. The reason I say that is because they have exhibited at the London France Show a couple of times so I have met Pascal Combe and tasted some of his lovely wines.Indeed I have reviewed one on Snooth and have two others in my cupboard that I bought off him back in January

I'm very jealous. I spent a summer in Aix-en-Provence in my college days. I wish I had known then what a a great wine and food location it was. Report on your Provençal tastings. I would love to try some of the wine now.
