Vissani 52 bottle wine cellar

Original post by VegasOenophile, Dec 1, 2009.

I made that my first black Friday run, to Home Depot to grab one of these. At $148, it's hard to beat a wine fridge that size. I have a Danby dual zone which is supposed to hold 30 bottles. Trouble is, the top "red" section only has two shelves and even when lined with all bordeaux bottles, they are too snug to slide out with the drawer. The remaining four shelves for "whites" are not spaced well enough for burgundy size bottles or champagne format. It gets tedious making it work and the cooling system seems to sometimes not work as well as it should. I fear it's on its way out, plus I have well over 30 bottles at any given time, so I needed something else.

It fits things great! I was wondering if anyone else went and got the Vissani one on black Friday? If your Home Depot has any left, I believe the lowered price still applies. My store has three left, so I'd assume they didn't sell out across the board.

I am looking at this cooler as I live in the desert and the warm temps inside my house cause a thermoelectric cooler to just plain not work.  Anyone have this in a warmer environment (85 degrees) and how does it hold under those conditions?

We have one of ours out in the garage where the temps are regularly 90+ degrees during the summer months. No issues whatsoever. That one is the oldest of the 3 we own as well. Hope that helps.

It helps a lot, thank you so much for your response.  Heading to HD today to see if they have one on the shelf.  Cheers.

Bought one of these in November 2010 plus a two year extended warranty from Home Depot. The compressor stopped working in July. Magic Chef offered only a refund of purchase price--no compressor replacement or unit replacement. So much for the five year compressor warranty. Now I have a broken wine cooler that I must dispose of--not so easy these days where I live. The company simply shrugged and said that wasn't covered by the warranty.

I just found this thread b/c I saw the Vissani for sale at Home depot for $148.00.  Sounded like a steal so I did some research and wound up here.  Anyway, I was leaning toward purchasing this Danby for $229.00 which hold 35 bottles but now I'm leaning toward the 52 bottle Vissani... Anyone own this Danby for comparison? Is the Vissani the way to go?
