Vissani 52 bottle wine cellar

Posted by VegasOenophile, Dec 1, 2009.

I made that my first black Friday run, to Home Depot to grab one of these. At $148, it's hard to beat a wine fridge that size. I have a Danby dual zone which is supposed to hold 30 bottles. Trouble is, the top "red" section only has two shelves and even when lined with all bordeaux bottles, they are too snug to slide out with the drawer. The remaining four shelves for "whites" are not spaced well enough for burgundy size bottles or champagne format. It gets tedious making it work and the cooling system seems to sometimes not work as well as it should. I fear it's on its way out, plus I have well over 30 bottles at any given time, so I needed something else.

It fits things great! I was wondering if anyone else went and got the Vissani one on black Friday? If your Home Depot has any left, I believe the lowered price still applies. My store has three left, so I'd assume they didn't sell out across the board.

I have a Wine Enthusiast 20-bottle cooler that has lost its ability to keep things cool below 59. Not very helpful for keeping whites chilled. I will have to look into this. Thanks for posting!

A quick spin at homedepot.com shows this one isn't at our local store. Oh well...

it isnt on their site. Never was from what I remember. It was just a promo offer they were doing. You will have to go to a store to see if there are any left.

Even if there isn't, they have some good deals on other (magic chef) 52 bottle coolers in the upper 200 to lower 400 range and a vissani 32 for 178.

I have just purchased the 52 bottle Vissani cooler and cannot fit more tha 27 bottles. Has anyone figured it out? silly, but when the box says 52, I expect to fit 52! signed, NJ wine drinker. . .

well, I went through the same misunderstanding.

I assume you are looking at how each row holds 7 bottles, then the bottle row holds 6. The problem is, these racks are designed to hold 2 rows of wine, one on top of the other. Basically, you fit another row of wines in opposite orientation (front to back, back to front) in the back and front rows. for the most part, you can fit double the number of bottles on each of the three rows. there is a chance, depending on the bottle, that you can fit an extra into each shelf. Add those into the extra 6 at the bottom and and others in the cracks, it adds up to roughly 52. try it and let me know, I currently have over 40 bottles with room to spare.

Yes you stack the bottles in opposite configuration form the first row on each shelf. It might even fit more than 52 is you get creative. Trouble is, the wire drawers then get so heavy, they won't pull out, which makes hunting a bit tedious. All in all though, it holds a lot and keeps them cool. It does it's job! I am pleased with it.

i just bought this wine cooler at home depot for $199 it says it holds up to 52 bottles of wine. does anyone know if its the 750 ML size or the 350ML size? the home wine kits for 6 gallons make 30 of the 750 ML.

Just picked up one of these at Home Depot. They are currently selling them for $199 in Northern California, but I found one that still had a $148 sticker from Black Friday on it and they honored the price. I would have been happy at $199, but I'm even happier now.

Thanks for the explanation on actually fitting 52 bottles in there.

Do any of you have opinions yet of the Vissani 52 Bottle cooler? In particular, I was wondering about the noise factor? I bought a 42 bottle Danby and it's going back because it's louder than my full-size refridgerator. I can hear it upstairs when I'm supposed to be sleeping. It cycles about every 30 seconds too, which doesn't help.

Thanks!!!

it makes a little noise, you can hear gurgling from the coolants. but it is relatively minor, atleast to me, I don't hear it unless I am sitting within 5-10 ft of it.

Thanks kylewolf! I just verified what you said. I ran out and bought one at HD. It makes a very slight, steady humming noise but that's to be expected. So far, it's MUCH quieter than the Danby. We'll see if it holds up over the next few months.

Sounds like a reasonable deal. Any idea on reliability or is "throw-away" the key word here given the price if the thing conks out in 2 years?

My Danby was quiet when it worked properly. I think one of thew two motors (dual zone cabinet) went out. Thus far, the Vissani isn't overly noisy. Just another appliance.

Just wondering if anyone else who has this one has issues with the racks? When it was empty, they slid in and out, making for easy loading. Now with the racks full, they won't slide out. I don't know if this is normal, but it makes accessing or browsing the wines tedious, since they stack two high on each shelf/rack. Anyone?

There is no on/off switch.  You either plug it in, or unplug it.  It's job is to maintain consistent temperature, so like a refrigetator, it dosn't get turned off persay.

I am looking at the Vissani 52 bottle wine cooler. I would also like to use it for some speciality beers. Will the temperature go as low as 40 degrees?
