Virtual Tasting in September

Original post by Gregory Dal Piaz, Aug 19, 2010.

So with the end of summer approaching my thoughts return to drinking more red wine. That may, or may not be a good thing but it started me thinking - What do WE want to drink?

If we have a few coordinated tastings, maybe even in a chatroom somewhere - live, we could try similar wines and share experiences, maybe even try the same exact wine.

At bare minumum we can spend the month exploring a region, or regions. I am already planning to begin exploring French wines in a basic way in October but I thought I would open September up to suggestions to get things rolling.

If we figure things out in time I'd even be happy to host something here at Snootsaew bottles from the designated region!

Greg

Got to head off,  have an electrician coming over and getting tradesmen to turn up is difficult so I can't miss him

Great concept - lets do it again

That was cool.  Even with the various technical challenges.  Let's do it again!

Greg

The online tasting was great, my 3 guys were very impressed and I think Snooth has 3 new converts

We posted the event on Yammer for the rest of our firm to see

Some clever person asked the rhetorical question

If you drink too much at an online tasting do you get pixilated?

: (     sorry, i was MIA for this one... i was really looking forward to it... i've been working too hard.... i did manage to fit a quick trip into sonoma over labor day, but outside of that, my 7 days a week work schedule hasn't left time for much else...

This would be fun, especially over Twitter. (Just use a hashtag like #winechat -- I do a semi-regular #cigarchat)

I agree we did a Semillon Masterclass Tutorial on Wednesday which is part of the Australian Industry series of Landmark Tutorials to promote regional and varietal differences across Australia.  We streamed it live on Ustream, similar to Gregs gig last Saturday and set up a twitter feed.

Ustream was a little dissappointing as it was very slow and patchy, once the taffic hit a reasonably high level, but twitter allowed for a lot of commentary.

Must admit it was rather amusing watching room full of people trying manage two glasees and twittering comments.

I had the old world job of filling up glasses - the bottle to glaas technology is still not advanced since the dawn of time!!!
