veuve clicquot ponsardin la grande dame 1998

Posted by Bellouco, Dec 24, 2015.

Hi - My name is Belinda from Australia.  I have a veuve clicquot ponsardin la grande dame 1998, complete in it's box with the little booklet inside.  Will this be OK to drink now do you think?   - any advice will be great.  Thanks ! Belinda

It will be more than fine right now, or you can hold it to drink in five or 10 or 20 more years if you can store it in a cool, dark, quiet location. I've had many bottles of the same, some only a few years old, and some decades old, and they have all been most enjoyable.

It's an excellent champagne, and that's a good vintage. Chill it to the right temperature and share it with people you love. Not your everyday sparkling wine, at all...

Excellent Champagne, enjoy!

Praying that it was stored right up to this point.  Important part is to take care of it going forward, cool dark place... then enjoy it!

And happy Xmas--hope you are having a lovely summer day! (Kills me that kids in Oz are on summer break during Xmas.)

Belinda, do let us know what you decided to do with the Grande Dame, since you've piqued our interest! Also curious what else you get up to drinking Down Under.

Merry Christmas!
