- Unique Napa Valley Pinot Noir
First time member here.
I had the pleasure of tasting a very unique Pinot Noir from Napa Valley - Richard Grant "Wrotham Clone" Pinot Noir. I tried their Sparkling wine - amazing depth and character for a California sparkling wine.
Anyone else try this pinot noir and sparkling wine?
According to their website (http://www.richardgrantwine.com)..
Richard Grant Wines in Napa Valley, California from America's only Wrotham Pinot Noir vineyard. All the grapes in this small (two acre) vineyard were propagated from a single, two hundred year old, wild vine. That vine was discovered quite by accident growing against a stone wall in the village of Wrotham, Kent, England. Brought to Napa Valley by Dr. Richard Grant Peterson, it is not found anywhere else in continental Europe. It is an ancient seedling of Pinot Noir thought to have been introduced to Britain by the Romans nearly 2,000 years ago....

I haven't had either, but would be interested to see you tasting notes or just a description of what made the Pinot unique from others.

It is a very interesting story. I agree a tasting note would be helpful to illustrate if this is, in fact, more than just a good story.
