- TN 1999 Château Pontet-Canet
- France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (12/3/2008)
Opened up and let air for about 30 minutes. At first, there was some leather like qualities that picked up on in the glass. On first taste there was evidence of ample fruit with mild acidity giving rise to a moderate finish. I found a nice balance of both fruit and some oak, but not overwhelming. I will finish the bottle on the second night to see if any additional notes come to mind. A great wine for the vintage. Drink up (89 pts.)

A real solid wine in an greatly under-rated vintage. The 99's got so lost in the 2000 run up and hoopla. I bought a fair amount on super duper close out years ago and have quite a few left. I know I am in the minority but these are my kind of Bordeaux. Balanced, elegant, and cheap enough for a Tuesday night.
great note M
