Wine for Dummies - given to me by RBoulanger and passed on to several other people since! An excellent starter.

Hahaha, yeah, it's actually on the shelf right in front of me as I type :-D. I was wondering about other books besides the obvious "...for Dummies" brand.

If you can't accept being a dummy, or if you are a little bit beyond n absolute abecedarian, you should try The Wine Bible by Karen MacNeil, the head of wine education at the Culinary Institute in Napa and host of a PBS show.
Although its still a paperback, its about twice as big as the dummies book which should make you twice as smart as all those other people in no time!

@RBoulanger: I wasn't knockin the Dummies, it's a pretty decent book (the lecturer of my wine class felt so), but of course I'm interested in discussing the alternatives. Thanks for the tip on the Bible!
@Dan: I also appreciate your suggestions very much, thank you,
