Do you really like Snooth except for that one little detail? We want to hear your thoughts.

Oh, because of duplicates? We're consistently working on reducing the number of duplicates on the site but until then you can feel free to pick one that matches well enough. Eventually we'll merge all the dupes and we'll of course merge the reviews as well so you won't lose any data.

I already mentioned the edit/preview aspect to posting so that is taken care of.

Next I would say that search sometimes interprets things funny ... for example, when I put Flowers Pinot Noir ... where Flowers is a winery, I get results for 'floral' and pinot noir. So maybe a power search capability ... which, I know is soooooo Web 1.0 :-)

Oh ... just thought of something else ... not a huge deal, linking or embedding images into a post?

I would like to see just a first few lines of messages on my home page, with link "see whole message" or something like that, and message box that grows are I type my message.

Just like that!

@Philip ... I meant so that images could be displayed in the post not seen just as a URL.

Is there any way to filter 'My Wines' to just the wines I have in my cellar?

Yessir! Go to 'myWines' and simply click on the Cellar check box beneath where is says "Display Only".

You can use this to quickly show you just wishlisted wines, or just cellared wines etc.

I think it may be a bit confusing for new users how to add people they know are users of the site.

A former coworker of mine (username Toothpick here now) found the "invite users" (which generates email, without apparently checking whether the invited email address already has an account... unless I confused things by using the user+snooth@foo.dom syntax?) before the search box on the friends tab. But maybe he can relate what motions he went through here.

I also think it may be confusing to those used to other sites (ahem, Fb) that the Snooth friend relationship is closer to "following" (like from Gawker media), in that one user's addition of another as a friend doesn't (so far as I can tell?) even make noise in the friended user's Grapevine. Unless I'm missing something?

Gr - Not sure i get the second point. If I add you as a friend and you accept the invite, that 2 way link ensures that each of our actions are posted on each other's grapevine. It could be what you are experiencing is a friend link that was never accepted?

For the first part, i can say with resounding clarity that 'we're on it'. Chris is about to launch the snooth contact grabber - one of those tools that, with your permission, can borrow into your gmail, msn, yahoo or aol mail and tell you which of your contacts are already on snooth.

With that done we can turn our attention to any strange bahavior in the invite friends modules remaining.

Hi Gabe... Hey I'm pretty old you know so it may all be me and my failing eyesight... I did try to just type "gr" in the "Find your friends" box. Of the list of users I was presented with - none of them were you. So I went the alternate route of "Inviting" you. Hope that helps. It was pretty confusing for me because I did sort of expect to see a list of folks that would also at some point have included you. Maybe some logic is being tripped because your id is short?

Toothpick - makes perfect sense, we'll look into it, thanks

Toothpick, yeah, gr is a lousy search string, so it's hard to blame Snooth for that. (My email address or name would also have worked.)

Philip, I didn't say it clearly above, I don't think: I think that the "invite" box, when provided an email address, should check the same DB table that the "find your friends" box does (for email address) before dispatching an email.

Oh, on the second point, I think I was getting memories confused. When I add someone (say, Toothpick) as a user, he hears about it (via email), but I don't show up as a friend for a third party looking at his profile because he hasn't reciprocated that link. Which is exactly as it should be. I just missed that the yellow box changed from "so-and-so has no friends" to "waiting for friend confirmation".

When I click on buy now, why does it not list those in the UK first? I get a long list, of US stores etc and have to sift through them to compare the uk prices. My location is known to snooth in my profile data...

Dupes...
