Sandra and I tried to watch the Comey hearing with just a glass of water, but soon it was time to open a bottle of wine.  You know, something that matched the goodness that was being revealed to the American public.  I went with a Barnett wine, specifically the 2012 Rattlesnake Cabernet Sauvignon.  This is tasty stuff and should be held back for important occasions, like a pending impeachment trial and things of that nature.

Sandra pulled together a small charcuterie plate to complete our experience.  I can't believe how fast a few hours went by; the closed session that was to follow the public hearing should provide some context to what could not be said in public.

Who in the hell did that?  This is a free country and we're allowed our opinion - left, right, green or whatever. I'm a vet and those rights are sacrosanct to me - if this was deliberate it's wrong.

So RC, did you watch the hearing with a glass of wine?

No - Although I am semi-retired and just went through my stuff, I'm helping the new owners of a gas station here in town to get off the ground...I was working.  Need to get out of the house a little.

It's a wine forum. Politics have no real place here. I'm surprised the thread lasted as long as it did.

I was at work so couldn't watch but tuned in to listen to part. I like Comey less than I did though. Calling someone and asking that person to leak for you is just weasel-like, not stand up. And I love that the people who were excoriating him before are now so pleased with him.

It's just like wine. If you like what I like, we're BFFs. If you don't like what I like, you should be hounded out of the vicinity.

The ice cream is kind of funny though.

This is social media. And wine is life. It doesn't exist in a vacuum. How many people do you think discuss current events, including politics, over a glass of wine? How many people who enjoy wine and want to chase after its best are concerned about what's happening to their political, cultural, social and economic environment (in ways that may even impact how wine's grown, how government reports on and manages it, etc.)? So what's wrong with talking about the most egregiously bad four months of any president's stay in the White House, ever, and how it may impact our way of life now and into the future?

As long as the discussion is kept to a clearly identified area or thread in the Forum, what's the problem with that discussion here? People who don't want to participate don't need to attend the discussion and need not click on the thread. People who want to should be able to. OT, even WB has off-topic sections, I believe.

Almost certainly someone on the Snooth Admin side deleted that thread. None of us can. Both Al and I have pinged Mark A. (the current CEO, and former CTO for Snooth) multiple times, but he hasn't deigned to answer back. Like Paul I think it was ridiculous that the thread was just deleted without any announcement. No posting of terms of service/use that I can see anywhere, either, so what was the rationale? It was a single thread, clearly identified in its title as being political. Doing no harm to anyone who didn't want to go there.

Just another example of how slack and haphazard Snooth has become, and how little current management thinks of the Forum.

"I like Comey less than I did though."

Never had that high an opinion of him, and thought he was a grandstander who had a propensity to damage things he didn't fully understand, most obviously during the election process when he acted improperly. However as he answers back to Trump's ridiculously poor treatment of him, not to mention even more serious behaviors, I have to give him more credit than I did before.

We enjoyed last night at the Crystal City Water Park, during the Friday event they now call 'Fridays at the Fountain'.  Sandra and I discussed Trumps statements about calling Comey a leaker and of course Trump denied all the claims that Comey made during his sworn testimony.  But the biggest thing from yesterday is that Trump said he would testify under oath.  I am so looking forward to that, but I bet he finds excuses to avoid doing so.  He cannot continue to lie his way out of difficulty as he sinks deeper and deeper into the pit of doom.  Once Trump commits perjury, we the people will take him out of office.

I don't discuss politics much (has the opposite effect of wine) but at least in this environment it's kind of safe..... In South Florida discussing politics can get you killed!!! http://miami.cbslocal.com/2017/06/02/shooting-davie-shops-investigation/

Stupid people, just plain stupid. Read it, but I guess that's what it's devolving into.  Comey's testimony did nothing to quiet things down.  Sure - he said what he said and both sides now have new food for fodder.  It's just ridiculous.

That impeachmint thing was hilarious!!. But, do you really think that Trump wil be impeach? With the republicans backing him up I think it wolud be very unlikely.

I know that impeachment will be a difficult process to initiate due to the GOP control in the house.  I expect that Trump will soon see the writing on the wall and resign with some sort of health excuse.  He is clearly out of his league.

I have a lot of friends who I enjoy drinking wine with. I'd have a lot more if we never duscussed politics. I like how they do the Politics Forum on WineBerserkers, it's opt-in. If you don't opt-in it is invisible and you would never know it was even there. Politics and Religion are both game changers for me and I steer clear. Unless of course there is a good joke because laughter cures what ails you.

Here we go - I figured sooner or later we'd get this kind of input and it would get started.  Check out Johnny 1340's proposed post. I'm not touching this with a 10' pole. Go ahead if you want - I'll leave this thread alone.
