- Sunday May 31st - Older Californian BYOB dinner - NYC
I am working with North Square, who took great care of us at our last dinner
http://www.snooth.com/talk/topic/open-that-bottle-night-2009--north-square-restaurant/
and am trying to nail down the details of this dinner. I expect it should run just about $80 per person all in and we have a tentative guest list that includes:
Me
RachelNYC
RBoulanger
MReff
MTB
JoshL
stujakub
brooklynwino
eddiew
As I mentioned previously I will bring magnums and 750's to get this party started.
Some ideas include
Mags of
1966 Louis Martini Mountain Pinot Noir Special Selection
1978 Beaulieu Vineyards Claret Cabernet
1979 Rutherford Hill Cabernet
1985 Charles Krug Cabernet
For 750's I'll have to grab the list I have at home.
Hope to see you all there!

Unless plans change, I should be in NYC and able to attend. Looking forward to it.

Nice job Greg, I have an '86 Inglenook to open, It was amazing when I tasted it last summer. Any idea of a start time? I suggest around 6ish, just because I love to start drinking when it is still daylight...hahhahahhahha

I'd like to come if it weren't in NY. That $80/person is greatly increased if I have to fly across the country. Gary, if you have the wine it would be great if you could include my older vintage Cabs. I know you were able to try the '86. If you have access to the '88 or the '85 both of those are looking pretty nice right about now. If you don't, then I more than understand...they're old

Hank,
Not sure I have em. Possibly still have another 86 though.
Maybe there's some business out this way you can attend to that week?

Greg,
I mentioned to Greg T about this, and he is of course 50/50. Chances are he has a hidden gem in his cellar that he paid $8.00 for back in the 80's

I spoke with him about it last night too. It's a good deal so let's keep the pressure on him!

Ohh I didn't know it was BYOB. I am still game for this, I will just have to bring something a bit younger than what is listed. My collection is a little younger than yours. :)

Well don't fret too much.
I'll bring the older, everyone else just brings as old as they can. If that means a very carefully selected bottle from straight from the shop so be it. This is as much about sharing as it is about getting it right!

Greg - I won't be able to make the dinner. Family obligations have surfaced for that day. Enjoy - and hopefully, I'll make the next one. - Marguerite
