Looks like the Sat tasting is 150 wineries/ over 1000 wines plus food. I am gonna try to make this one if a) I can get a room and b) friend or hubby can come.
Looks GREAT- especially since I love the area.
Sonoma tasting, Sat of labor day wkend- Healdsburg

Does anyone know of any discounted tickets, besides the visa signature discount? I am getting ready to order tickets, but wanted to double check first.

awww man!.... i'm going to be on a bicycle wine tasting tour, but i think in the sonoma (proper) area.... with a group... as part of the newlyweds reception... i'm afraid healdsburg would be a bit too far to peddle....
and SNOOTH is a sponsor.... i'm doubly disappointed : (

Got my tickets! Used the Visa signature card.. discounted from 150 to 95- not bad. And managed to book a room in Northern Santa Rosa. I am so looking forward to it! And, yes, I will look for Gracianna!

you don't want to ask, outthere! It is cheapo!!!! motel 6.. the only place I could find for under ~350 (prices jacked up for the weekend of course). I mapped it... 18min to Healdsburg.
But I don't care cause by the time I get back to the room... it is all a moot point! I will be out like a light. Besides, we'll head back early on Sunday... just one nite.
Please don't tell me they have lice or something!?!!?! Is it horrendous??? Yikes. Am not familiar with motels up that way.. we usually stay at vaca property in Jenner when up in Sonoma. Not avail this weekend.

Lots and lots of vacation rentals in the RRV, Napagirl. Are they *all* spoken for (though with the event and on that weekend, it's certainly not inconceivable, still...)?
... Was bugging me so I just did a quick search. Ran into a couple of walls with places in Healdsburg and downtown Sonoma that were booked out, and places in the Mayacamas Mtns. or Glen Ellen that you could only book over the phone, but then quickly found several houses in Sea Ranch for two nights in the 400s for that weekend, and in the trees in Outthere territory with creek access and sauna/hottubs for three nights in the 400s. Sounds better to me than a Motel Six for one night in the low 300s.
I imagine there are even more availabilites in the area, but I stopped at that point. Had me worried there for a minute. I thought the economy might have already completely fixed itself overnight, without me or Wall Street knowing anything about it.... ;-)

Dmcker... not low 300's at motel 6!!! LOL! Everything else was low 300's. I am only paying ~70 for the M6! If I was able to stay more than one night, I would have invested more $/time into finding a nice spot. We have to leave early Sun for other reasons.

2760 Cleveland behind the Thai Market is the better of the 2 grasshopper. Hope you chose wisely.

No, just a lot of '57 Chevys and even a few late-60s and early '70s Chargers and Mustangs and Malibus all muscled up, though I'm probably skipping over a few Corvairs and Pintos and Ramblers....
Where did you think the name came from?

Come to think of it, many of those addresses in Sonoma where you'll find a Motel 6 now probably had plenty of road apples, cowpies and the like before the area got all vinified and more pavement was laid, way back in those days before PCs and faxes and cellphones and yes, even the Internet....

Cool, Outthere! Do you know if Selby will be here? She is one of my fave chard makers....

I haven't seen Selby on the guest list yet. I would venture no but one can never be sure with wine events.

You mean this tasting? It's amazing how ACME gets wine makers to pour $100 bottles of wine for free isn't it? Surely worth a stop Napagirl if you plan on coming north on Friday. After your tasting you can jump over the hill from Calistoga and drop right into Santa Rosa. The "Motel 6" is the first exit heading south on 101 from Mark West springs Rd.
