- Snoothrank seemingly not matching reviews
It seems that on some wines, the Snoothrank and the reviews don't seem to match up. For example, this wine
http://www.snooth.com/wine/b-side-cabernet-sauvignon-napa-valley-sebastiani-2005/
has a Snoothrank of 3. There were 3 reviews - WE gave it 91 points, there is a 4 glass rating and review, and a short one-line review from kybecca.
It would seem to me 91 points from WE and 4 glass rating would add up to more than a Snoothrank of 3. Do the 2 imported reviews have a weighting that pulls the Snoothrank down even if they are positive? Does the 91 points figure into the Snooth rank?

From what I understand, it is not a straight average. Individual ratings are based on the amount of ratings that people provide. This helps to keep from people 'hijacking' the rating system.

Howdoes a wine get a rating with no reviews? I see many wines with a Snooth number of glasses rating, but no written reviews and no user ratings.

I can't speak to the math or method of how the Snooth rank is put together- but I will say that Wine Enthusiast is about as "generous" as any out there.

Vellovino - users can leave private reviews, these affect the average, but are not displayed.

Hi Philip,
Thanks for the explanation. I wasn't sure if the private review only hid the comments, or hid the entire review.
