Hey all,
Today we announced the arrival of our new iPhone app, Snooth Wine Pro.
With the app, you can take a picture of a wine label and we'll help you find the wine using our database. You can also:
• View the stores closest to you that have the wine in stock
• Compare prices and view maps and directions to nearby stores
• Add the wine to your Wishlist or Virtual Cellar
• Purchase the wine online through the Snooth retail network
• Read expert and user reviews and post your own
• Browse for similar wines by winery, region, or varietal
Check out some screenshots and features at http://www.snooth.com/iphone-app
Let us know if you've tried the app and what you think...

Congrats on that. Does it also scan barcodes?

Nope - only image recognition for the wine labels and location aware store search for now.

I'm in Toronto, whats the support for Canadian wines & the LCBO like? Worth upgrading to Snooth Pro fro image recognition for the wine labels and location aware store search?

Only a matter of time before the Android platform becomes the standard. But that shiny thing will look so cool as a paperweight on your desk!

Wouldn't bet my last dollar on it. For the moment I'm going short on Google, even though I know a lot of very smart people there.

And you can mentally masturbate all you want about what might be useful in the future. What are you using now that beats an iPhone? Say an iPad and I might even listen to you for a moment... ;-)

a discussion over Christmas dinner: is a blended wine a mix of grapes blended during the process to create the wine or a mix of already created wines to produce the blended wine? No one had a definite answer. Can anyone help us?

I just paid $5 for this and I can't even get it to stay open for more than 5 seconds. It keeps crashing.

Sorry for the trouble @hughster65, we've had reports of crashes with the new iOS version, and will be pushing through an app store fix ASAP.

@Patricia - I'd recommend trying the free version to see how it works for you. The pro version has the image recognition feature and is ad-free, but is otherwise the same as the free version.

I think a great tool for the app would be to also push the Wines Worth tasting notes. it would be a great tool to have on the go to open it up and have the list right in front of you rather than going to the website. Doesn't have to be anything exorbitantly elaborate, maybe just a quick list of the suggestions with a few notes. Something to think about for future upgrades.
