Snooth titles and rank

Posted by Philip James, May 3, 2008.

Paul Mabray of IBG said we have good Kung Foo (sic) at Snooth, so clint and chris got a bit carried away and went and revamped the Team page to give us ninja style titles. We struggled to find 6 japanese fighting ranks, but got there eventually.

Normal site development will resume shortly

Ok sensei, samurai, ninja work out ok, but aren't great.

Ronin is a merc. samurai while Shogun and Daimyo are general/leadership positions.

I think better junior names would be Ashigaru, Shinsengumi, Onna Bugeisha, Byakkotai, Sohei, and, of course, Yamabushi!

Besides Kung Foo has nothing to do with Japan, anyway.

Kung Foo (Fu) = Chinese I guess. And how do you know the various and deadly japanese arts?

Maybe we should have used the Shaolin Monks Northern Gung Fu styles, I could be drunken monkey, or the grasshopper or something

Doesn't every male go through their Ninja/Shaolin/Kung Fu etc. phase?

The names were not meant to be strictly Japanese, and were chosen for their alliterative qualities, or to give a sense for what kind of work it was. For example, CSS takes crafty, delicate, sneaky approaches, like ninjas. I referred to myself as a Ronin because I have a varied approach to my work at Snooth, and it sounds good with the word "Code". I called Damir a Daimyo, since that is a classification of a provincial war lord, so he was our Serbian Daimyo. Philip is Sensei because he is the oldest and wisest. Anyway, the names were chosen to be bad-ass, not an accurate representation of any one existing martial system.

Hand of Snooth?

Is this part of the new ranking system? Or is saying I'm a contributing member?

@John: Your induction into the secret order of the Hand met little fanfare, so I apologize for the confusion. Hand field agents have special powers on Snooth, so it goes even beyond status...

Wow, never heard that term - just googled it and it was manga central. I think we need some of the Kunoichi resin kits, like this one:
