Snooth Pro iPhone/iPad App Not Working

I've recently downloaded the Snooth Pro iPhone/iPad app and find it keeps quiting on me.  Originally it would only do it while taking a picture of the label but now I can't even run the app, it quits as soon as it boots.

Anybody seen and solved this problem?

I'm having the same problem.  MyiPhone add crashes after 1 minute.  I looked online for solutions, but all the posts were from early 2011.  I hope someone from Snooth checks these posts.

Is there a way to refresh my wine list after I add wines to my account on the webpage?

@mruzicka - usually opening the app again syncs up my-wines, but sometimes it might not catch very recently updated wines - this is a known issue.  The problem with app crashes is not resolved yet, we'll have to update the app binary and push it through the app approval process on the iTunes store.  Unfortunately this takes much longer than updating the web site!

The Snooth app on my iPhone crashes also - usually after being open for just a few seconds.  An update will be great.  Thank you!

I noticed both my Snooth and my Snooth Pro apps on iPhone crashing earlier in January.  Here we are on 2/3 and Snooth Pro is still not working contrary to the post by mruzicka on 1/30.  Sad.  You pay real money and get service that is far less than adequate.  I've sent a few messages via the App Store reporting the problem and get no response whatsoever.  I'll give them another week before I release the hounds.  C'mon man.  FIX YOUR STUFF!

Adding my voice to the list of "it's crashing on my iPhone" folk ... is there a better place to reach out for technical support? I'm running 5.0.1 on an iPhone build 9A404.

I have been having the same issue and decided to try and delete the app and reload.  But my pro version doesn't seem to load and the app suggest upgrading to pro...I've already done that!!  This is a real issue as I am not willing to pay again.  I hope this can be corrected very soon.  I purchased the pro version early January 2012.

Just a few updates - 1) We patched our API, which corrected 99% of the crashes that we were seeing on the app via analytics.  2) We're going to be submitting a new app version within the next 48 hours, which will improve the robustness, and also prevent a crash that occurred on dismissing the "rate this app" dialogue, and also it will log more detailed crash reports so that we can clean up any remaining issues.

@shamakir - sorry you had a problem with the in-app update, I will talk to our developer about that.  Will PM you instructions when I get word of a fix.

Chris, reading between the lines, should I guess you guys are outsourcing the iOS app development? With the level of instability being reported here--and especially it having to be reported by users rather than dogfooders over this length of time--you really should send them a rocket, and consider some changes...

 

As a separate issue entirely, have you tested the website against Safari browsers recently? On Mac 10.6.8  and Safari 5.1.2 the page keeps wanting to refresh, especially when I try to utliize the scrolling bar on right...

@shamakir - You can actually "purchase" the app again, and the app store will note that you've already purchased it and download again, assuming you are using the same app store account.   I tried this with my own account and personal CC# and it worked for me.  The screenshot below is what you will see.  EDIT - this will occur after a seemingly discouraging popup that says "Buy for 4.99?", which you have to say yes to.  Not ideal at all, but it seems to be how the app store works.

 

@david - the issue was more of a communication problem, so I wouldn't place the blame on the developer.  We had a hard time monitoring the crashes and responding appropriately, and we're taking steps to improve that.   On the unrelated note, I'm using Safari now, and lots of people in my office use the site with Safari, so I'm surprised - will have to keep an eye out for other reports.  In the meantime, you could try Settings -> Privacy -> Cookies and other website data -> Details -> (delete snooth.com) ?

Chris, thanks for the quick response. i stand by my dogfooding remark, though. Those are pretty critical bugs.

I'm using Firefox, Safari and Chrome at various times. That problem only occurs with Safari. It isn't unique to Snooth. I also encounter it on maybe 10% of the other sites I visit (very rough estimate). Not being into webapp dev and browser optimization, I hesitate to guess what either Safari is doing wrong or websites including Snooth are not doing to optimize for it....

Thanks for the response.  I did give that a try and it didn't work out.  I'm not sure why, but I think the reason may be due to using a gift card.  So, I was charged for the app anyway.  Any suggestions?  I'm of course going to file a problem with the app store and see where that goes.

Hi,

I've just purchased the app with the PRO features and when Iwant to take a picture, nothing happens after the picture is being taken. The app blocks. The same situation if I want to access my pictures (I never see the pictures, and app hangs). Can you help me ? Txs.

Same problem. Very frustrating especially if you are in a store trying to decide which wine to purchase.

Wow. These problems have been going on for years!  Shouldn't you NOT offer this app since it's been a lemon for SO LONG?!?!?  My bad for downloading it even though I noted the very poor ratings.  I thought I'd give the benefit of the doubt.  But it crashes as advertised.  This STINKS.
