Snooth iPhone site

Posted by Philip James, Nov 24, 2008.

We quietly released the Snooth iPhone site last week, and although we mentioned it on the blog , we've been quiet about it while we collected feedback and made a few last tweaks.

We're excited about this, as mobile apps (there will be others coming) have been one of the most requested feature. Here's a quick rundown of how you can use the application:

Location based shopping - this is the killer feature. Type in what you are looking for "spicy shiraz", "chardonnay under $20 for fish" or whatever and your zip code (US only for now) and we'll give you wines in-stock and in your neighbourhood. One click to then call the store to hold the item, or to get directions.
Mobile access to your Snooth Wishlist - when you're in the store and you know you're looking for an old favorite, you can call up your wishlist right then and there
Review and rate the wine while you are out and about. I tried this at dinner on Friday, and have never found it so easy to take notes about the wine I was drinking.

The app is very easy to use and taps into the same huge database that powers Snooth. This means that what you are looking for is probably already on there, and you don't need to waste time typing it in. Also, anything you do on the iPhone version of Snooth is seamlessly integrated with what you do on the website.

To try this new site out, just use your iphone to access

We hope you like it, and look forward to hearing how you use it.

Well, first one I tried didn't go so well.....looking for Row Eleven Pinot Noir...which it did pop up asap BUT when I asked where to buy in my zip, I got a) another winery b) the newspaper c) a Baptist Church :)and d)a bourbon distillery...among other sillies. In searching for a Tintara Shiraz and using my zip code, I was sent to Connecticut to buy it.....I live in Lexington, KY.

Really cool app if....... BTW, will there be an icon link or must we get there all the time by first opening a browser?

Susan - what exact wine were you looking at? If its the Row Eleven Pinot Noir, which vintage was it? I'll look into it. Thanks

Susan - i checked all the Row Eleven Pinot Noir wines and couldnt find the issue. We dont have any churches or newspapers on our site.

I think you might be talking about the Google Maps application on the iPhone

Great start! especially since does not work very well on the iphone (it also sucks with safari). Unfortunately one can not access his list or make private notes to ratings. Also adding pictures with the phone wold be great (but I guess this needs an app) - why don't you make an app?

Hi CHSE -- welcome to Snooth. Can you be more specific about your issues with Safari? It's one of our more well tested browsers, so I'd be curious to hear your concerns there so we can look at them. Thanks!

We have finally completed the Snooth iPhone app and it will be available very soon. This new app is version 2.0 and built from the ground up, providing far more features than the previous version, including the ability to search for wine by simply taking a picture of it. For information, visit

Looks like you did dig up all the old threads! ;-)

My comments still stand about the desirability of more description here in the forum.....
