Want to buy a couple of reasonable bottles to keep for family dinners at Christmas whilst there on a pretty good special offer at my local retailer, any of these worth trying?

Aussie  & Spanish. (may buy for presents as well !)

Mollydooker The Boxer Shiraz 2009

Clonakilla O'Raida Shiraz 2008

Turkey Flat Shiraz 2006

Spanish

Vina Ardanza Rioja Reserva 2001

Prado Enea Muga 2004

Rioja Gran Reserva Vina Real 1999/2001 CVNE

Spanish list looks pretty good, would go with the Spanish first if money's an issue. Don't really know the Aussie wines, other than hearing the Mollydooker tends to be a relatively overpriced fruit bomb.

If your local has Monte Real Reserva, that's a very good deal at 20 dollars or so.  I have some experience with your first Spanish and recommend it if the price is right... which I don't see above.  Where is StephenHarvey at these days?  That's the go-to for Aussie, yes?

Hi Fox,

Marques de Murrieta £16 ($25), Prado Enea Muga £27 ($43), Vina Ardanza £15 ($24), Gran Reserva Vina Real £19 ($30), I can get the Monte Real Reserva for £11 ($17).

Petaluma Coonawarra £20 (30 AUD), Mollydooker £24 (37AUD), Clonakilla £24 (37AUD), Turkey Flat £23 (35 AUD).
