Where did you get that pic, NG? I just might steal it for my christmas cards this year. :)

"May the season find you jacked up on love and happiness." - I should totally write for Hallmark.

Okay, opened mine.  We had lamb chops on Xmas eve and I brought the '10 Ogier St. Joseph and an '09 Maclaren Judge Family Syrah.  The Maclaren was rounder, easier to drink at first, but still had a little St. Jo tartness.  The Ogier was tarter and tighter at first, but by the end of the night, I was reaching for it.  Lots of lightly meaty notes--more bacon than roasted game-- nice lavender and mineral notes, good but mild tannins.  I think there was just a little hint of leanness in the Ogier that made it more clearly N. Rhone than the Maclaren, but these were clearly in near-lockstep with each other as the night went on.  Two winners, but think about giving the Ogier a little more time in the cellar--I think it will improve and keep putting weight on its sturdy frame.
