READ ME

Hey everyone!

Just a reminder. In order to be assured that everything goes as planned can everyone please PM me:

  1. When they send their wine and include a tracking number so I can keep all the info on a spreadsheet.
  2. When they have their gift from their Santa in hand. It may have been delivered but did you actually get it?
  3. If there is any issue at all that needs to be addressed. Don't wait till the last minute and find out you have shipping issues.
  4. If you have not given me your shipping address please get that done. Your Santa cannot send you wine if you don't do your part.

The goal is for everyone to have their wine in hand by Thanksgiving which gives you approx 1-1/2 weeks to get the gift shipped.

Cheers,

Santa

For me it's pretty much anything but I'd prefer not to get something Spanish!

Probably not Sauv Blanc either.  - GregT

GregT,

Contact secret santa, and please send all your Sauv Blanc my way, please!  ;-)  ;-)  ;-)

Well, this going to school for an MBA thing is really messing up my Wine-O lifestyle! :-)  Between school and vacation out of the country I totally missed this year's Secret Santa.  Any chance I can crash the party at the last minute?

OP edited with latest information on deliveries.

Let's talk reveal. When do you all suppose we plan the reveal, the guess on who your SS is and the unveiling of your SS's identity?

JenniferT will not be available until December so keep that in mind. Maybe she can chime in first?

What say you?

I'm sitting on a 2010 St. Joseph from Ogier.  Bunch of years ago I bought a lot of Ogiers CdR that was at least in part declassed CdP from that monstrously large (and oh-so-ripe) 2007 vintage.  Even now I think that might be the best 2007 S. Rhone I've had and certainly a huge QPR at under $10 a bottle.  But I think the reason my SS got this for me is because s/he knows I like Syrah--perhaps this is from that connoisseur of Cali Syrah OT?  After all, he can't really send me a Cali Syrah, since he's responsible for about half of the Cali Syrah I own already.  Or, could be GregT, who wants to wean us all off of Pinot and thinks the best thing about Pinot is the Syrah they sneak in... Or GdP, who thinks we all need to drink more Euro wine and, further, heard me comment that there's just not enough N. Rhone in the world.

BTW, Bell had a sale to clear out end of vintage stuff--2007 Canterbury Block 6 was half price.  I waited too long and it sold out, should have bought 6 or 12.  Wife would have had no problem with it--she loves it almost as much as I do and at that price?

Now, back to the point--I'm in no rush to open this, since I figure this could be quite good for a dozen years.  So, how does 2015 sound? I think we let Jennifer tell us when she has a minute, although it seems like her travel schedule is pretty unpredictable.

Thanks for getting this started Foxall.

I received a 2011 Robert Ramsey Le Mien from Yakima WA. It's a S Rhone style blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Counoise and Cinsault. Sounds delicious. Not too hard to figure out who sent this one, besides the fact that I knew who it was before he sent it. I mean someone had to know who all the players were, right?

Seeing that this is the first vintage of this wine I cannot wait to try it, so it will likely not see much cellar time.

I thought we were going to discuss when to do a reveal. Discussion over I guess.

How about a week after everyone receives, so Tuesday or Wednesday before thanksgiving?

Sounds good to me JD, does that work for the rest of you? Let's hear your opinion.

Fine with me, just have to make sure noone inadvertantly consumes my bottle before then, last I checked it was still intact.

Sorry, thought the reveal related to the actual drinking and the disclosure of Santas.  I couldn't really be expected not to open the box and insure that the contents were in good order, eh?

Too bad it was cooked from being stuck in delivery limbo for 2 weeks.
