Great site. When searching in FF 2.0 I'm finding the feedback of the entire screen going dark a bit distracting. Looks like you're using AJAX on the search so I would suggest maybe only displaying the screen feedback on the results pane and maybe making it not so dark.

thanks for the feedback. we have been planning to add a small loading image on top of the grayed out background. do you think this would help?
having the "Refine your search" pane unavailable during a search as well as the results pane seems somewhat important to me.

Yes, a "loading" pop-up on top of the screen-darkening is a Good Idea. I also found it a bit confusing, especially when I was on the porch with the laptop so the screen didn't seem all that bright to begin with. (The "loading" of course should NOT be darkened...)
