Schreiner's Winers: June 2010- Experimentation

Our tasting group's June event was a brong-your-own bottle of something that interests you that you've never had or are unfamiliar with.  Some normal varietals showed up, but all in all, it was an interesting night with some new wines.  Our lineup consisted of

2008 Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Viognier

2008 Chateau de Matards Cuveé Quentin Premier Cotes de Blaye

2007 Chalk Hill Chardonnay

2007 Q Clay Ecose de Rulo Carmenére

2004 Tenuta del Portale Aglianico del Vulture Riserva

2007 Francis Coppola Alicante Bouschet  Magenta Label

2008 Graham Beck The Game Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

2008 Mollydooker The Maitre D' Cabernet Sauvignon

2005 Mettler Family Vineyards Petit Sirah

I would say the overall favorite of the night was the Coppola Alicante, which is good two of us brought the same bottle, because both were drunk.  I personally really enjoyed that and the Aglianico Riserva and those were my top two of the night.  For summertime moods, the Pine Ridge was very nice as well.
