That pop sounds gross.
You want a gewurtz rec? Thats a pretty floral wine for sashimi, i wonder if i's try to get something steelier. Chablis is good, or maybe a dry dry reisling.
Let me go look for a gewurtz though

OK, here's the Gewürztraminer's I've rated: http://www.snooth.com/my-wines/Philip/gewurztraminer/1/0/0/125/000/0/10/date+desc
The Bloomer Creek and Domaine Loew are great, but hard to find. The Willm, is ok for the price, easy to find, but i rated it fairly poorly. I think Willm do a pinot gris thats better though

Thanks for the rec's... I'll have to try those, although I changed my mind and got some sparkling sake!

Thats works too - how did it pair? We talked about sake and sushi in an older thread, and someone claimed that tea was the only thing that paired with sushi and sashimi. They obviously havent seen me drink at home then...

It paired very nicely, the sparkling sake is only around 7 percent alcohol, and was very light and easy to drink. Tea? I'm sure many non-alcoholic beverages go well with Sushi.. but thats for some other website to discuss.

I am not a sake drinker, is the sparkling something I should try? I notice you say it is light, which seems like a good thing to me, but is it like anything else you can think of? Of course when I hear sparkling, I instantly think sparkling wines, any relations? Do you drink it hot or cold? My family makes sushi every year at Thanksgiving (for an appetizer) and we just started pairing it with Alsace rieslings, wondering if we should try this next time.

I havent had too many sparkling sake's, but i know you cant heat them up - all the gas would bubble out.
Ocean - let me link you a sake i had recently that was super light...
