Royal Wedding

Posted by spikedc, Apr 29, 2011.

A certain wedding is taking place today in the UK, HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton are tying the knot at Westminster Abbey in London. It's a holiday, lots of street parties, great atmosphere and i'm sure a few bottles will be drunk. Anybody else raising a glass today.

Unfortunately typical British weather.

I watched the ceremony on TV - simply wonderful.  The commentators on TV mentioned that many folks in the crowd outside Westminster Abbey popped open Champagne once they learned the union was official.  Though I am here in the States, I decided to have some Champagne and strawberries for breakfast as I watched this elegant event.  Cheers to both Prince William and Kate - best wishes!

Does anyone know what wines were served in the Palace at the lunchtime reception and at the evening dinner?

Champagne was a non vintage Pol Roger, and an english wine called Chapel Down Flint dry 2010 (Chardonnay,Huxelrebe & Bacchus) was the wine of choice, made in the south east of England in largest of the 109 wineries in the country.

Whatever else was served is unknown at the moment.

The theme was to be British wherever possible
