What makes this bizarre as it appears to be a suicide.

John - i read that earlier - the sfgate article has a pretty horrible, yet busy, series of mud chucking comments beneath it

I've taken the stance of never reading 'user comments' any more ... it can be more depressing than the actual articles.

Very true...I remember reading an article a while back about a Washington D.C. intern that had been found "lying dead by the side of the road". Most of the commentors were involved in a heated debate about the proper usage of "lay" vs. "lie".

You know, I disagree. I've found that a lot of youtube comments tend to be more entertaining than the videos themselves.

On more thread-related news, this is tragic. I always think it's beautiful when people say that the world was a better place for having had someone in it, as cliched as it can sound. This is a man whose work was enjoyed by millions of people worldwide.

I always found Donn to be a gracious man - equally friendly to colleagues as to drunken louts at ZAP. You are right, Pymonte. Many of us are greater for having known him. Cheers, Donn!

I really liked the anecdote about the two cups of coffee in the sfgate article.

(quoted)
Among Mr. Reisen's traits as he walked the halls at Ridge was a hearty sense of humor, Draper said, which helped define the rapport between the two, including on occasions when Draper would stop by Mr. Reisen's office in a worked-up state. "He'd take one look at me and say, you've had two cups of coffee. We're going to postpone this," Draper recalled.

This is a tragic waist of another life, by his own hand or another.
I will say that if by his own hand much sader as this is an end to a pain that hopefully none of us will know. I only just watched an interesting program on depression http://www.abc.net.au/austory/speci... if you see any of these signs in anyone, you SHOULD be worried.
You don't have to be down and out as you will see from the show. (if you chose to watch)
