Reston International Wine Festival

Posted by Really Big Al, Oct 17, 2015.

I'm heading out the door soon to pour wine (as a volunteer) at the Reston International Wine Festival.  This should be some what similar to those Wine in the Water Park events I was pouring at during the months of June and September this year.  It's a bit cloudy and breezy now so I hope the weather calms down for the event.  I'm sure to be exhausted when my shift ends at 6 PM tonight.  Wish me luck!

The Reston Town Center in northern Virginia is a nice place to dine.  Back when I was a working man I was on a program where my office was up near there.  Ahhhhhh.....retirement.....

Thanks MJ.  The day went well, but it was cold and breezy.  We had to keep moving around to stay warm enough that our hands wouldn't freeze up.  The cold weather reduced the number of people, but I would say we had between 200-300 in total.  There were some late comers but the sales of the tickets was stopped around 5:30 PM to ensure the last folks had some time to visit the tasting stations they wanted to try.  In total, if you tried all wines from the countries represented, you would get about a bottle of wine in your gullet.  Some people were having a good time towards the end, dancing to the live rock & roll music.

In the pictures below, the band was called 'My Generation'; they have played before at the Crystal City Wine in the Water Park events the past few years.  The lady in the light-blue hoodie was my pouring partner at our Argentina / Chile tasting station.  I did a selfie with some of the wine tasters in the background and finally a couple of interesting ladies were showing off a bit.
