Planeta Chardonnay Sicilia 2003

Details for Planeta Chardonnay Sicilia IGT 2003

Excellent rich taste - little oak;there are rose and honey overtones in addition to what I see in others reviews; was informed the grapes are harvested late and likely add to the very different appearance, deep golden, for a Chardonnay; also permitted a bit more maturation - thus 2003 tasted was excellent. Will be searching for this one and am curious to try more recent years.

This has been a consistently impressive wine. They do very little malo-lactic fermentation so the acidity in the wine remains bright and helps support the wines aging. It sounds like you enjoyed the wine. Did you have it on it's own or with food?

They are just excellent across the board IMO. Some people criticize them because they don't deal only in "indigenous" varieties and instead use syrah, chardonnay, merlot, etc. And they make good wine with it. Gee, that's a real shame.

I had their 2008 rosado last night. 100% syrah. Light salmon pink color, fairly full bodied with brilliant acidity through to the finish where there seemed to be the merest touch of residual sugar. Just a nice wine all around and $18. Solid producer.
