Speaking of Burgundy/ Pinot Noir tending to receive lower ratings than other reds, i'm heading out to a Pinot Noir Tasting in Santa Monica on Sunday. 20 Red Burgs and Pinot's combined, here's the lineup. From what I can tell so far, there are a couple to be excited about. If you're in the LA area and are interested in attending, let me know - I believe there are a few seats left.

Pinot Noir Tasting

Looks like a fun time to be had, but also all over the shop/countryside in style, etc. Will look forward to hearing your notes. If the tasting were in Japan, I'd be paying particular attention to the condition of each of the bottles, especially from those outside the home area (in this case CA)....
How many people are going to be drinking all those bottles (and how many of each)?

Supposedly it's limited to 12 guests, but i'm guessing it could be closer to 20, and it's $79/person. Advertisment said over $1400.00 combined bottle price.
