Outthere, A Little Help, Please

Posted by EMark, Aug 13, 2013.

I just received notification from Bedrock that I might have the opportunity to buy some of their new release and, thus, be elevated to full e-mail membership.  So, I am wondering if you have any recommendations on the following that I may request.  My gut feeling is that the most attractive wines might be the ones with the lower bottle limits:

Description                                                                  Limit

Compagni Portis Vineyard (Sonoma Valley).............. ...........4

Sonoma Valley Old-Vine Zinfandel......................................12

Evangelho Heritage Wine (Contra Costa).............................10

Kirschenmann Vineyard Zinfandel (Lodi)................................6

Sodini Vineyard Zinfandel (RRV).................... ......................6

Bedrock Heritage Wine (Sonoma Valley)...............................6

All these are 2012 Vintage.

Hurry, I'm old.

They're only encouraging you to buy 44 bottles, no problem!

There was a nice article about the Evangelho the other week.

You're asking the wrong guy.

I bought:

6 CP

12 OVZin

5 Evan

5 Kirsch

5 Sodini

5 Bdrk Hrtg

2 Carignane

The Old Vine Zin is a Major QPR. Everything is awesome though. Bigger fruit on theSodini, Big Sspice on the Bdrk Hrtg, Kirschennman and Evangelho are restrained, higher acid. CP is a gorgeous white.

Hey, Emark, I'll be tasting a few of these over the next couple weeks at Zinfest (Charlie Palmer and Clay Mauritson's event for the North Bay Downs Syndrome Association) and at OT's event.  If you can wait that long and need a second opinion...

There are a few other folks who use Evangelho fruit, like Turley and 3Wines (Matt Cline's winery), so there are other ways to get it, but sounds to me like you could take OT's numbers and cut them in half and be pretty happy.

So much good wine out there, and so much of it is Zinfandel or made by Bedrock and a few others.

BTW, it's that time of year:  have to go read my email from Radio Coteau right now.

I hear CP is sold out already. This is the waitlist people Fox, he who hesitates gets no wine.

I should have put the tongue in cheek about waiting for me to taste it.  But the three dots were all I could manage.

Think I'll just buy the odd bottle via retailer...love their pricing, but just merely like the wine I've tasted so far but admittedly haven't had enough of it.

Thanks for your comments, folks.  I went for simplicity--2 X bottles of each.

Well done Mark. The Evangelho and Kirschennman are going to be ready first. Drink those while you let the others sit. Welcome to the family!

That's a heck of a list...not a great Zin producer missing.
