Lovely cassis and earth tones with mallow chocolate and lavender. Smooth tannins. Quite long with elegance. Loved it a lot.

Certainly an extraordinary wine, very expensive, though. I had the Pinot Noir Robert Mondavi 2006 Private Reserve last month and It was frustraiting, fewer flavours and a much inferior bouquet than I expected.

Robert Mondavi's pinot noir has never been that exciting. His dad's was probably better. He (and his people, since he's retired now) has always been more serious about his cabs, his overall business including his tieups with overseas groups (thus the Opus One), and even his sauvignon blancs.
