Olive Garden Wines

Original post by flatliner1569, Apr 5, 2011.

I recently had this wine at an Olive Garden that I have been trying to find. I thought maybe I could find it else where for cheaper. I did not think it was a house wine but after searching for it I cannot find it anywhere. I then went to look on their website to see what they had it listed as in case I was searching wrong or something and it is not listed on their website. I'm pretty sure its not a house wine that is exclusive to them but I'm not sure. If anyone could help me out who is more familiar with wine and such then myself it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

what you were told about the wine at the restaurant is true- the roscato wine is made exculsively for the og in Italy, however there are a few states in the US that require wines the are sold in restaurants to be sold also in the retail market. Depending on the state you live in, you may be able to purchase it from a retail location with the proper licensing and have it shipped to you. every state is different and has different laws- I ended up having to leave most of the wine I bought in California on my tour of the Napa Valley because California doesn't allow individuals to ship wine out of the state, unless you have a special licence (wineries and some retail locations do). Additionally, 'Roscato" is the brand, 'rosso dolce' is the wine blend.

I forgot to mention- if you can't find it, I would suggest trying Lambrusco- it is sweeter and not as complex, but it is the most commly imported wine from Italy, red, sweet, and effervecent. It will most certainly be availible in your state and at a low price

If you live in the Pacific Northwest, go to your local wine seller and ask them to get it for you through Odom -Southern Distributors. List price around $10.50. If you live in the Albany area of Oregon, you can get it at Mama's at 50 West Oak in Lebanon.

Any idea if this wine is available in Canada? We also had it served at the Olive Garden and also loved it!

Recommend you try a bottle of Serena, a fizzy, sweet lightly alcoholic rose wine from Italy. Sounds as if the flavor profile would be similar.

I just bought four bottles of this wine. Looks the same but it is fizzes, is this normal? Everything else looks the same but when I pour it it fizzes, and if memory serves at olive garden there was no fizz to it.

I am looking for Primo Amore Moscato which is at Olive Garden. Is what I see online the same one? Someone posted that it fizzes and at the restaurant it didn't. I live in Indiana.

I just bought 2 bottles at Jungle Jims in Fairfield, Ohio.  10.99 each.  It wasn't on the shelf, I had to ask for it, it was behind the counter.  I looked online though and it seems it's available for shipping from lots of retailers.  I even went to RedLaser on my smart phone and did a search on Roscato and got 11 results.  For some reason Jungle Jims didn't show up there, though.  I'm sure they(JJ) ship as well.  Interesting place!!

These wines are also available at www.empirewines.com. I live in ND and even with shipping the price wasn't bad.

I found some of the Roscato at a wine store here in NJ. It wasnt easy to track down but after buying and trying it we were too supprised about the fizziness of the wine. Like others, my wife and i didnt remember the fizziness at olive garden. I was also supprised of the twist cap bottle to and not cork. I usually like to use a venturi and decanter so I tried it with the roscato. after areating the wine for a litte while, the wine was exactly the same. So I think the reason why it doesnt taste like that from olive garden is that they let their wines breath, wine always taste better that way anyway.

Even though we like the taste of Roscato wine, I dont like the fact that the wine is only 8% alcohol, almost half of other wines. Most wines are usually arouns 12-15%. SO I dont like that we have to drive almost twice as much... lol

I usually HATE wine and I actually like the Rosso Dolce from Olive Garden.  I do have to let it breath before I drink it though.  I typically hate that "wine" flavor and stick to vodka.  But if I just pour it between two glasses 2 times it tastes good.  I found it at my local liquor store for $14 a bottle for the 2011.(they didn't have the 2010 like OG had)  My sister used to be a bartender and she said you don't chill red wine, but her glass from OG was cold.  What would you all suggest?

I was wondering if anyone here could recommend a fruity sweet wine that would be similar to that.  I gave up on trying to find a wine I liked many years ago but now I wonder if there are ones similar that I would enjoy. Thanks!
