North Fork Long Island recommendations?

Posted by AlineAlmeida, Sep 12, 2013.

Hi guys, I have a friend from Brazil in town (NYC town) for a month and she wants to do a North Fork Long Island visit. I haven't been in some time -- has anyone been there recently and knows what is good to try these days (I realize that "good" for LI wines is a bit of a stretch, but...).

I remember Pindar was nice for picnics and I think I had a decent Bordeaux-style wine somewhere (Macari?). Also, was recommended the rose from Wolffer, but I am a tough sell for roses (I like my Bandols).

Anything? Many thanks in advance!

One of the writers on my website did a big North Fork trip last fall and wrote a mini-opus on the visit. Here's part 3: (links to part 1 and 2 are at the top). Hope this helps - feel free to post questions in the comments and I'm sure Jeff will respond.

These are are faves:

Great merlot plus a deck with picnic tables overlooking the vineyards.

Perfume-heavy pinot noir, friendly staff
