No vacation but I make the most of my weekends

Yesterday we were lucky enough to attend a barrel sample Fall Release Preview Picnic at the Bedrock Vineyard in Sonoma. A typical beautiful Sonoma County day with temps hovering in the low 90's. We were treated with a great selection of food and wines. The invitation encouraged us to bring something we wanted to share so lots of other interesting wines were sampled as well.

Chef Yann Nury flew out from New York and performed his culinary magic.

I really enjoyed this one. Perfect on a hot day.

Only 1 barrel of this was made, only 150 bottles distributed. This will be awesome in about 5 or six years.

Who said Zinfandels don't age? This was fabulous.


Under the radar.

All in a great setting...

Vacations are over-rated! Especially if you are not on one.  ;)

But I have to wonder - morels served with truffle sauce??

He's the French chef, not me. Was delicious nonetheless. The stars were the Lamb Belly, Artichoke Confit and the Oysters w/Caviar.

I was on "vacation" (How does one take a vacation from retirement?), and I'm still jealous, OT. 

It is because of that green-eyed monster, that I am joining GregT in piling on the menu designer.  Believe me, Mrs. EMark would never consider Truffle Sauce on Morels.  Also, though, there are Morels in the Pea Soup.  Then, Truffles are repeated with the lamb.  Then, Caviar (seafood) is added to Oysters (seafood).  She would have a fit. 

Maybe she is not up-to-date on the latest culinary trends.  I have to say, though, it does make shopping easier.

Yes, again, I am jealous.

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to serve wine in the garage.

The team finished 7th in the race.  A lot of disappointment in that result.  Several people asked when we would next join them for a race.  They were, then again, disappointed when we told them Phoenix in November.
