New wine blog from world traveler

Posted by Ole Gade, Apr 6, 2013.

Fellow wine lovers, I have recently initiated a wine blog which deals with people and their wine production in the local setting in different parts of Europe, South America, Australia/New Zealand and North America. The initial page is about our recent trip to the island of Madeira; soon to follow will be Navarra, Spain, and more extended tours of France and Italy. I would love to get folks's reaction to a wine blog whose major concern is to understand contexts of wines as opposed to the more focused wine tasting blogs. http://oleswinesandvineyards.blogsp...

Welcome to the Snooth Forum, Ole.  I think you will find that most of the consistent participants on this forum are interested in all aspects of wine.  It is not a matter of one topic as opposed to another.

I have visited your site and very much enjoyed reading your short bio.  From that I know a lot more about you than I know about most of my Snooth friends.  (Of course, most of them know little about me.  So, there is, a suppose, a balance of ignorance.)  I have started reading your article on Madeira, the wines of which I know very little, it, clearly it is going to take me a while to read and understand what appears to be a pretty comprehensive essay.

I hope you plan to participate with us here on the Snooth Forum, Ole.  I look forward to learning from you.

Ole Gade -- thanks for the post. Your new weblog looks interesting, I'll have to keep an eye on it. Are you planning to write any more about your small experimental vineyard?

I certainly like that you are starting off with Madeira and Navarra--interesting areas that haven't been done to death in blogs.  And really different in what they produce--stretching out right away!  I'll try to get over to the blog and have a look, but it's a great start.

Emark, just to lower the balance of ignorance on my side, I'm left handed, my favorite sport is basketball, and I'm a Gemini.  Hmm.  Sounds kind of Match dot com if you know what I mean.  Maybe ignorance is bliss after all.

Hi Ole, welcome to Snooth.

I think understanding vineyards, regions, and traditions is integral to understanding wine.  Looks like you've got a great blog there. Hope to see you participating here at Snooth.
