Hi everyone,

I just founded this very nice place today. My name is Ricky and i'm from Quebec, Canada. I speak french but my english is not so bad :) ... I've been interested in wines since 5 years now. I almost like every wines but i'm a big fan of desert wines. We have many good in Canda like "Chateau des charmes" at Niagara on the lake, Ontario.

We just built our new house (I have a girlfriend and 2 kids) and also added a wine cellar (900 bottles capacity) so i'll have a lot of fun :) ... 50% of that space is reserved for ITALY :)

I'll do my best to be useful here ....

Howdy! Where abouts in Quebec? We work with SAQ (Societe des Alcools de Quebec), so I'm occasionally in Montreal on business.

I'm 20 mins south from Quebec city. Montreal is 3 hours from here. SAQ is a very beautiful project here. Many people from France really like SAQ when they come here. A lots of stuff but also more expensive then elsewhere.

I've been to Chataeu des Charmes. It is a beautiful estate. The white wines are quite good.

Hi, Ricky - and welcome. I'm also a big fan of Italian wines - far and away my favorite European wines. A friend and I are thinking of driving up to Quebec City sometime this Fall - once we have our plans set, I'll reach out for advice on restaurants, wines, and things to do.

Hi Ricky and welcome. I don't want to start off on the wrong foot here, but 50% for Italy?

You should try some nice wines from Spain and the US. Otherwise Greg dal Piaz will lead you down the path of no return. Beware!

Incidentally, what is the other 50%?

MTB: Of course, just let me know and you'll have a nice trip :)

GregT: I also like wines from spain, US but i'm really a big italy fan. The other 50% is for BORDEAUX, FRANCE OTHERS, NEW WORLD . I also really like wines from south africa. Like i said before, i'm still a beginner (started in 2004) but with all the room i have in my cellar, i will have a lots of wines from a lot of country :)

Hello,

I'm reasonably new to the forum too, but just thought I'd add another hello to this thread. Quebec is a place I've wanted to visit for a little while too, but that will have to wait until I've got some of this stuff called "money" that I keep reading about. I'm learning French at the moment, which will no doubt help if I ever make it over there!

I've mostly drunk French and Australian wines, but there are some really nice Italian wines and I've been meaning to try more. I'd love to try Barolo, but that seems a little too expensive.
