- Nero d'Avola
After reading the Italy issue of Wine Spectator, I was inspired to try Nero d'Avola. So I insisted that we review it for our weekly podcast. We chose the 2008 Feudo Arancio Nero d'Avola, which I really enjoyed. Has anyone tried another Nero d'Avola that was good and widely available. I think I like the grape itself so far.
You can hear the podcast at http://www.eastcoastwinegeeks.com or download it from iTunes.

I like the Morgante Nero d' Avola. It is an inexpensive wine but a good value. I used to like Cusumano but it's not available anymore in my parts of the world. There are probably others that people would enjoy. I'd be interested in finding a few more. I'll be sure to try the Feudo sometime.

I have been a Nero fan for a long time. Im happy to see it gaining some popularity, You normally can get an excellent bottle of Nero at a great price, but I have seen some of these prices starting to climb lately, so lets hope the trend doesnt catch on too much!!
Anyway...I completely agree with Basil, Morgante and Cusumano are great buys.
Not sure where you guys are from, im from the metro NY area, and have seen "Cueso Scurati" and "Tasca D'Almanerita Lumari" pretty widely distrubuted. These are also great buys and I would strongly recommend them.
Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestions, I will keep an eye out for those if I can find them here. I got a good first impression of the grape!
