My Journey so far !

Posted by spikedc, Jan 18, 2011.

Although I’ve always enjoyed a glass of wine it’s not until a few months ago that I started to take any notice of what I was drinking. What country, grape, vintage didn’t come into my thinking it was just another glass of wine (enjoyable as it was, most of the time). BUT NOW !............

My neighbours introduced me to a Bottle of South African wine last year  ( 1685 Boschendal Shiraz, 2008) which I really enjoyed this and since then I haven’t looked back. I searched for more information and found you guys on Snooth, I now know what I’ve been missing. Wine has now become an obsession I can’t get enough .

I must admit I now have a fondness for South African wines, Boschendal (Shiraz & Cab), Bellingham (Chardonnay), Porcupine Ridge ( Syrah), Graham Beck are just a few I’ve sampled recently. Love to find more,  hopefully you guys can help me.

Having a Spanish family, anything from Spain will always be a favourite (Rioja especially).  Greg has been a great source of information.

Had a few Australian wines I’ve really enjoyed lately as well, (Stephen Harvey recommendations have been good, thanks).  Favourites so far have been Yalumba Scribbler and Patchwork.

My pockets are not deep so cost does come into the equation but  from what I read and tasted there is so much good affordable wine out there it will keep me going  for quite a while.

So keep the recommendations coming !  Cheers.

dmcker, i hope to taste recommendations from everywhere eventually.  I've had Californian, French and Italian wines in the past but probably not taken much notice but i will from now on.

Spike

Keep on the journey, it only gets more interesting and more fun

Have a look at my posts on the Tour Down Under Thread which matches my wines to the first leg of the pro-cycling tour in Australia

Hey there Spikedc,

Welcome to Snooth.  A while back I jumped on board and haven't looked back.  Snooth always has the information I am looking for.

One wine I would heavily suggest would be 2006 L'Ecole Merlot.  It is a Washington State wine.  I have been recommending this one quite a bit to friends.  I know it is not in the regions you are looking at currently, so get to it when you can.

Hope all is well.

Gantt
