Lost season 4? or is it 3?

Posted by Philip James, Feb 29, 2008.

I've 'lost' count of what season 'lost' is actually at. Its even worse when I watch the show, I was able to follow the plot when it consisted of generally current happenings with occasional flashbacks, but now there are flash forwards as well i'm totally 'lost'.

I was a die hard fan for the first 2 seasons, but like 24 Ive drifted away. I think there needs to be a spin off centered around the future version of Jack trying to get back to the island after they were all saved called "Get Lost".

I know its gripping, but does anyone actually understand whats going on any more?

Well, right now, they are just trying to keep it messy so they can shoot more episodes.
I don't know anyone who is watching that anymore...

We're in the middle of an abbreviated season 4

All the episodes are available free at
All you need is an internet connection, free time and the will to watch them.

I think everyone agrees that after the first season, the show has devolved into a fantasy-sci fi-thriller mess. The question is how much longer will viewers hang around for the dirty high of possibly finding out what the black cloud monster is. ABC's problem is that the story has 2 more full seasons to go, but the show is no longer consistently winning its time slot because its become so absurd and confusing.

There's a bar somewhere in the East Village that has Lost nights, think I saw it on, which is an awesome site in of itself.
@RBoulanger: I don't think the degeneration really happened until the 3rd season. I thought the end of the 2nd season was great, and they haven't really topped themselves since.
Last night's was pretty good too, as are most of the Desmond-centric episodes. They have too many characters now, and I don't care about most of them, especially Jack, who is constantly crying.

@ccarpita: To me the degeneration began as soon as they started introducing "new" survivors to the island. Once the writers knew they had a hit on their hands, the quality declined. Go watch the first 5 episodes again and see how pure they are.

I agree that compared to where we are now, season 2 was great, however. Once they introduced the suburban neighborhood and developed the "others" into characters in season 3, it started getting real weird.

Lost is the best show on television period.

@RB: the purity comes with anything new, and those episodes are really fantastic, but I think they were going to have to introduce new characters/scenery at some point. this doesn't always coincide with degeneration, although in Lost's case, I think it eventually did.
